Hilton High School presently offers Advanced Placement (AP) courses in:
- Biology
- Calculus (AB & BC)
- Chemistry
- Computer Science
- English
- European History
- Participation in Government
- Physics
- Statistics
- World History
These courses involve more depth and breadth of content than the equivalent Regents course. Students must draw upon their entire bank of knowledge and organize relevant information into unified and coherent solutions to problems.
A valuable benefit to students taking AP courses is their introduction to college level work, both in terms of quality and quantity. It has been reported that students returning after a year in college have indicated that AP courses helped them with both subject understanding and study habits.
These courses may be awarded three to six credits, depending on the college and AP exam grade (usually 3 or above). In May, Advanced Placement exams are given in: American History (available to students enrolled in IB History of the Americas 11), Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Computer Science, English, European History, Participation in Government, Physics, Statistics and World History. The exam fee is approximately $95. Students enrolled in the AP courses are expected to take the AP exam. Students who want to take an AP exam in a course we do not offer must contact their assistant principal.Learn more about Advanced Placement and view your AP scores.

Hilton High School has received accreditation from NYS Education Department to offer a Career and Technical Education (CTE) endorsement on the Regents Diploma for two courses of study: Business Management and Pre-Engineering.
The CTE endorsement indicates on a student's diploma that they completed a program beyond a Regents diploma. Students can earn the endorsement on their high school diplomas when they successfully complete requirements for a local or Regents diploma.
Business Management CTEThe Business Management CTE endorsement indicates that a student has completed a more rigorous program of studies in Business Management: a five-course sequence in business education, including Career & Financial Management, Principles of Marketing, Sports & Entertainment Marketing, Accounting, Web Design/Microsoft Office, Technical Reading and Writing, and have completed a work experience component, a portfolio of their work, and successfully pass a nationally accredited exam, the NOCTI in Business Management. Many of these courses are offered for dual credit through Monroe Community College (MCC), so students can earn college credit while taking these courses at Hilton.
Pre-Engineering CTEThe Pre-Engineering program leading to a CTE endorsement is offered by the Hilton High School Technology Department and is designed to give students an overview of the engineering profession and related careers. Students complete courses including: Career & Financial Management, Principles of Engineering, Digital Electronics and Robotics, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, and Technical Reading and Writing. Students also get an additional credit of their choice focusing on Introduction to Engineering Design, AutoCAD & Advanced AutoCAD, Architectural Drawing I & II, or Technical Drawing. In addition, students complete a three-part assessment that includes the NOCTI written exam, a demonstration and a portfolio. Many of these courses have agreements with local colleges (MCC and Rochester Institute of Technology) that allow students to receive college credit while taking these courses at Hilton High School. Students also complete a work-based segment, such as shadowing, internship, work experience or co-op.

Project Lead the Way is a four-year, five-credit sequence of courses which, when combined with college preparatory mathematics and science courses in high school, introduces students to the scope, rigor and discipline of engineering and engineering technology prior to entering college.
These full year courses are:- Design & Drawing for Production (1 credit)
- Digital Electronics (1 credit)
- Principles of Engineering (1 credit)
- Computer Integrated Manufacturing (1 credit)
- Engineering Design & Development (1 credit)
These courses will allow students, while still in high school, to determine if engineering is the career they desire. The Hilton High School partnership with Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) does not limit students to the college they may attend. Students may take any course as an individual elective.
